Maschio Model SC tillers are rated up to 170 horspeower.  Mimimum power requirements are approximately 1 horsepower per inch of width, so a 90" wide machine would take 90 horsepower to run effectively.  Horsepower requirements can vary greatly with soil conditions, application, and tractor forward speed so this should be used as a guideline only.

The SC is a durable gear side drive machine, with a strong frame and topmast.  The rotor has thick walled flanges, and we stock our SC models with a double flange kit as standard equipment.  The double-flange kit strengthens the rotor for tough heavy clay or stony conditions.  The machine is designed around a 1,000 rpm gearbox that provides four different rotor speeds with a simple gear change system.  The gearbox can be run at 540 rpm, but this gives only two usable rotor speeds.

Working depth is 10" maximum in ideal conditions.  Most operations will not achieve this depth on a first pass, particularly in heavy sod or other residue.  Optional equipment includes a front wheel depth control system, and bar-type rollers or packer rollers for depth control and soil firming.
